We’ve reached the end of another week – thank god! – which means it’s time to once again take a look at the coolest, weirdest and/or most awesome images that I’ve stumbled across on social media this past week.
So let’s get right to it, shall we?!
I don’t know how the weather’s been where you live, but here in New York, the snow has really worn out its welcome this winter. It’s enough already, and it seems Michael Myers feels the same way. This awesome shot of Michael decapitating Frosty was posted over on the Facebook page of ‘The Myers House,’ North Carolina’s full-size replica of the infamous house from Halloween!
My friends over at Kindertrauma always have fun with the holidays, and they just posted a ‘Harry Warden Super Show’ over on the site today, in honor of Valentine’s Day. It’s basically just humorous Photoshopped images of Harry Warden, and this one in particular really put a smile on my face. Now that’s a movie I’d like to see!
Speaking of today’s holiday, I’ve seen a handful of humorous horror-themed Valentine’s cards circulating around the web this week, and this Thing-inspired card is one of my favorites. You can see many more where this came from over on FEARNET, and you’ll find others on my former blog Freddy In Space!
When it comes to horror shirts, nobody does it better than Fright Rags, who have been churning out t-shirt gold for several years now. This Jason Voorhees/Misfits mash-up is their latest limited edition release, which goes up for grabs next Wednesday. Head over to Fright Rags for all the details!
This image popped up on my Tumblr feed earlier this week, and it made me both happy and sad. I’ve often wondered what the hell ever happened to these horror-themed carnival rides, and pictures like this one simultaneously fill me with nostalgic joy and break my heart. Used to have a ride like this at the annual carnival in my town, but those days are long over, and I haven’t seen one like it in many years. Anyone stumble across a ride like this, anytime in the recent past?
Makeup effects master Rick Baker recently created a Twitter account, and he’s been using it to tweet out some pretty amazing behind the scenes photos, from the sets of films he has worked on. This incredible shot is from Gremlins 2: The New Batch, and it shows off the many props he and his team created for the film. If you’re on Twitter, you absolutely must follow Rick Baker!
One of the most exciting things to happen this week was the announcement from Funko/Super7 that they’re soon going to be putting out many more retro-style figures, as they did with Alien last year. Upcoming releases include Predator, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and Trick ‘r Treat, and they’re all set for release at various times throughout this year. Now that’s what I call good news!
Speaking of Trick ‘r Treat…
It’s become pretty popular over the years for artists to turn My Little Pony dolls into horror icons, and Sam gets the treatment with this adorable creation, from Etsy shop The Pinup Chronicles. With a price tag of over $200, it’s way too expensive, but it’s nice to look at anyway!
We round out this week’s finds with this incredibly unique and totally badass Jason Voorhees poster, from artist Jesse Philips. Titled ‘Killing Machine,’ the art was made for Bottleneck Gallery’s ‘It Came From 1984’ exhibit, and limited edition prints can be purchased over on their website for $26. But hurry, because only 40 are up for grabs!
