Winner Selection
You may of course enter anytime during the whole month of October, but the winners will be chosen on the evening of November 2nd, giving everyone ample time to enter after Halloween night partying and recovery.
There is no criteria or categories for costume judging. All costume entries are welcome: scary, funny, sexy, creative, original, whatever. We will simply have a team vote and narrow it down to the costume we like most.

This year’s winner is “Dancing Jessie” from A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. Congrats!
WInner is “Dancing Jesse”?? REALLYYYY???Seriously??? This contest was totally rigged!
It’s really disappointing to see poor sport attitudes like this. “Dancing Jesse” got three independent votes from the team. Other costumes that came up as secondary choices were “Chainsawed Zombie” and “Borg”.
Our contests and giveaways ( https://halloweenlove.com/tag/contests-giveaways/ ) are first and foremost, fun, then, easy to enter, and finally, always completely honest and well-balanced. Anything other than congratulating the winner or not saying anything at all because you or someone you know didn’t win comes off a little bitter.
To those that enter with good hearts and good spirit, which is the real point, money only being a side bonus to make things a little interesting, we thank you.
I don’t think Kenny came off as bitter at all. There was a lot of costumes that were awesome and a lot more effort put into them. In my opinion it seemed more like a random draw than a judged draw, and that would be fair as well.
While I appreciate you taking the care to leave your thoughts in a calm and polite manner, I think you’re missing the ultimate point.
The bottom line here is that the premise of this entire discussion is inappropriate. The underlying statement that you’re making here is that you think the winning costume sucks. And using this as the basis that there must be something off about the contest. And having no other grounds to make such statements.
Not to mention that this person is of course still in this discussion thread seeing this negativity about him winning. My apologies to the winner and other entrants who are being interrupted by these comments.
I think I understand where some of the confusion is coming from though. I think some of you probably don’t understand what the winning costume is, which is a specific movie scene homage (not just some guy named “Jesse” dancing around in his normal clothes) that we thought was clever.
I could continue in great detail to explain how honest and caring HL is, more background about our process and thinking and past contest pitfalls, but we have nothing to prove and I’m not going to change anyone’s mind no matter how well I explain it anyway.
This is not the spirit of what this contest is about and I hope everyone here enters again next year, has fun showing off their costume even if they don’t win, and maybe put a little more effort into congratulating whoever does win.
Thank you.
