Every day this week I have been sharing some incredible pictures taken by Earl Ware aka 3rd-Rate Photography, who has put together a wonderful collection of horror and pop culture influenced images mostly featuring action figures and toys.
Today we revisit a classic Ray Harryhausen scene from Mysterious Island.
How did Earl create this tricky underwater shot? In his own words … “Mud from the river, add water, tripod, shutter release, and stir water with spoon. Then shoot like hell.”
Great toy photography is all about clever ideas and using whatever you can lay your hands on. With results like this the effort can be really worth it.
