Ode to the End Credits Song

Not exclusive to horror movies, but especially prevalent in horror movies through the late 80s and early 90s, we were treated to a special “made just for the movie” end credits rap or rock song. Sometimes, just a fun and bizarre mix. For reasons I don’t understand, this had become a sort of unspoken Hollywood tradition.

Some of my favorites (in chronological order by release date):

Ben (1972)

Friday the 13th Part III (1982)

Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986)

Complete song here.

Critters (1986)

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

Critters 2 (1988)

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)

Pet Sematary (1989)

Graveyard Shift (1990)

Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)

Let me know what I forgot and you can also check out a list I’m compiling of general Halloween and horror music.
