September is upon us, summer is slowly drifting away for another year and the countdown clock that silently ticks away at the top of this very page now tells me it is only 57 days until October 31st 2014.
To celebrate the journey toward Halloween I’m going to do something I’ve wanted to attempt since I first started writing here on Halloween Love … put together a definitive list of my personal favorite horror movie moments and scenes. I hope you will agree with some, maybe raise an eyebrow at others and fingers crossed a few will be pleasant surprises.
57 : Prince Of Darkness 1987 : A Warning From The Future.
There are several moments and scares within Prince Of Darkness that have stayed with me over the years but my choice for this list was always the disturbing and genuinely unsettling future transmissions that are sent into the dreams of characters throughout the story … Fuzzy footage showing the front of a church with a shadowy figure emerging, who may be Satan or some kind of ‘Anti-God’ …
I have to admit I wasn’t always a fan of Prince Of Darkness … In fact for quite a few years when I was younger I almost hated it. I remember thinking it was boring, slow, uninteresting and grim. Thankfully as I got older it became one of those movies I revisited with a calmer more mature brain in my head and dislike turned into admiration which quickly turned into fondness … now I find myself recommending it every chance I get.
John Carpenter is my favorite Horror director by some distance, and Prince Of Darkness has his unique style stamped all over it. Creepy and haunting with a fascinating story.
