If you’re not familiar with Scares That Care you really should be. Founded by Joe Ripple in 2011, this incredible non profit is dedicated to fighting real monsters such as childhood illnesses and cancer by helping families financially cope.
I first became acquainted with their work almost as soon as they started up and I was immediately intrigued by the idea of using horror as a means to help those with illness. It’s something we can relate to, that we want to help and that is growing all the time.
I’ve seen Scares That Care at many other conventions I’ve patronized so it was especially exciting to hear that they will be hosting their very own con this summer. Scares That Care Weekend will be held June 27-29 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The event boasts some pretty fantastic guests such as Elvira, Ken Foree, William Atherton and Sid Haig as well as a Fright Night and Christine reunion.
Expect a weekend full of goodness that includes a model kit competition, haunted house walk through, panel discussions, costume contest and more!
Tickets can be purchased here. But act fast! Hotel rooms are going fast. Be sure to give them discount code STC so you can get your room at the convention discount.
All proceeds from the convention go directly to families in need so, if you can, get yourself to Scares That Care Weekend!
