The horror genre has been around for as long as we remember. People in the past would tell each other horror stories around the campfire, write them down as folklore or creepypasta, and pass them on to generations to come. The movies in this genre remain timeless and classic and the demand for scarier content keeps on increasing. But it could definitely get quite difficult to creep out a true horror fan.

Therefore, we have taken the matter into our own hands and picked up some of the best horror movies you need to watch this weekend.

So, sit tight, lock your doors, and draw the curtains because it is going to be a spooky ride!

1. The Exorcist (1973)

Starting with the classic movie in the history of horror movies, to this date, The Exorcist remains one of the scariest movies of all time. It would not be a stretch to say that it truly is the OG demonic film. After all, The Exorcist managed to freak people out so much that back in the day, viewers would faint while watching this movie in the theater.

Based loosely on actual events, The Exorcist tells the story of a young girl, who, out of nowhere, has started acting out of character. Her mother enlists medical help but her condition of Regan continues to worsen. The local priests then suggest that young Regan could be possessed by a demon and an exorcism needs to be performed on her. However, things are not as easy as they seem and this demon is willing to go to any lengths to harm anyone who comes to rescue the girl.

You can stream The Exorcist on Prime Video today, but in order to watch it in HD and without any interruptions, you are going to need a superfast internet connection, preferably one that comes with unlimited data. In this regard, we suggest looking for Spectrum in your area since it checks off all the boxes on the list of reliable and high-speed internet. 2. The Blair Witch Project (1999)

If you are a true horror fan, then chances are you have already watched The Blair Witch Project at least ten times already but if not, then don’t wait any longer and stream it right away. The movie took the world by storm when it was released. The genre of found-footage was relatively a new concept and this picked up the interest of not only the audience, but the cops too back in the day. This makes it even more enjoyable to watch.

The movie tells the story of three film students who travel to a small town to explore the local legend called Blair Witch. The students spend a few days in this town and interview the residents. Soon when they begin their journey in the forest, the project takes a frightening turn and the students start to lose their sanity.

3. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

The fact that this movie is based on the real story of Annalise Michelle is enough to scare the bejesus out of us. It is hands down one of the scariest movies you will ever see. It is not only the video that freaks out the viewers, but the audio is also enough to keep you up the whole night.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose follows the life of a titular character who gets possessed by demonic powers one night at the hostel. Her family initially seeks help from doctors but only hit a dead end when they realize she is only getting worse with each passing day. When they see no other hope, the family seeks help from Reverend Moore, who performs an exorcism on her. Sadly, Emily passes away and now Moore is prosecuted for her wrongful death.

4. The Conjuring (2013)

The Conjuring does not only have an incredible storyline, but mind-blowing execution of the concept. What’s more, the cast is amazing and every actor has given the performance of their life. It pulls you in so much that you can even forget the story unfolding before your eyes is actually just a movie. Whether it is the jump scares or the eerie silence, The Conjuring brilliantly sets the whole scary vibe.

The Conjuring follows one of the cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, one of the most well-known paranormal investigators in America. It tells the story of a family of five daughters, who have just moved into their new house located on the outskirts of the city. Immediately after the move, the Perron family begins to experience bone-chilling events in the house. To deal with these events, they enlist the help of the Warrens to get rid of supernatural entities.
