Update, here it is…
Zombies have made a massive comeback over the past 15 years, and while I like all kinds of zombies, the slow-moving zombies of Romero’s films will always be the most interesting to me.
The Stillness is a short film, written and directed by Jackson Monks and Hunter Hieatt, and also stars Jackson Monks. Don’t forget that name; I wouldn’t be surprised to see that name on the big screen one day soon.
I really liked it, and I have a gut feeling this might get picked up as a feature-length. It’s currently making the rounds at film festivals, but I’m sure it’ll be made available for all to see on YouTube or similar at some point. I’ll update when that happens.
This short reminds me of the opening to Night of the Living Dead (1990). The strictness of letting things be, well… still, is sorely missed and refreshing in the “shaking camera, constant jump-cut, gotta keep ’em interested” style of today.
Good luck to The Stillness and its crew!
