It takes a lot to genuinely frighten me these days when it comes to horror movies, but I must admit I’m still susceptible to feeling very unnerved when it comes to prolonged death and torture scenes in horror.
My mind places me in the victims situation and I automatically start considering how I might act … Could I have escaped at ‘that moment’? … Would I be defiant, or crumble into a sobbing mess …
About two weeks ago I finally got around to watching The Poughkeepsie Tapes, a mockumentary / found footage horror from 2007 that managed to very effectively disturb me and really did get under my skin a little bit. I wouldn’t say it’s a particularly good movie but I’m perfectly happy to hold my hands up and say … Well played, you creeped me out!
