Right, I think that’s why I phrased it as “related” to Army of Darkness, as apposed to an actual clip from the movie. I remember that being the feeling, that they were ultimately nodding to the AoD storyline. I think that feeling was later validated by continued nods and references in subsequent episodes and the news that those legal/licensing issues had been resolved.

I also do a pretty good job of due diligence in checking the things I post, when I post them.

But, I should say, I don’t have an elephant’s memory of every second of the last season at this very moment, so perhaps I got it wrong or it was just wishful thinking?

In any case, I really hope season 3 is heavy on the AoD connections.

Agreed. When it comes to Evil Dead, it’s best to take things with a grain of salt. Continuity, logic errors, etc., are a-okay, so long as there’s a general sense of things being connected and in the same universe, that’ll give me enough of the neato feeling I’m looking for. :)

I mean, for the most part, it’s just an awesome, fun, self-aware campy ride with an great soundtrack. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but so long as it takes itself just seriously enough to have at least some rules and meaning, it hits the sweet spot, which I think it does.

Of course the reasons why have already been stated, but it seem’s so odd to ignore such a big part of the franchise. Then again, Raimi and Co. have run into these issues before (having to redo the first Evil Dead dynamic for the second film-Ash and the gang to just Ash and Linda) and continuity never seemed like a crucial element to the bigger story. But hey, that’s not why we love this series, now is it? I am still wondering how Ash ended up with the Necronomicon (sp?) after the events that may or may not have ended with AoD…:)
