FYI, 88 Films released the same cut version after the Full Moon release. How come there’s no rage with them releasing something that was already known at that point to be flawed? Before anyone cries that I’m a Band defender, to avoid discussing 88 Films, I know he’s shady at times.

I’d been following the issue with the Puppet Master DVDs not being sold and had a rough idea of when they’d get the rights back to start selling them, so when it happened, I wasn’t too surprised that there was much more stock than what they initially claimed.

The frame rate is also screwy and jitters all over the place. Once you notice it, you can’t stop noticing it. You’ll make yourself dizzy and sick by the end of the first Act. It sounds good, but then again, so does the DVD. The colors are nice in bright scenes, but everything seems to have been made darker and sometimes it’s hard to see things in scenes with lots of blacks. I still prefer the DVD. Here’s to hoping someone like Scream Factory could get their hands on the negative. But it doesn’t sound like a possibility when Charles Band is involved.

Thanks, I knew the Band stories but never in full detail. It’s so bizarre to me, because at worst, being honest and upfront would only make his profit margins a little smaller. Such a little price to pay for a solid reputation. Instead, anyone in the know kind of freaks out at the mere mention of his name. (I made a simple reblog about the Wizard released on Tumblr, before I knew the story, and several people immediately asked me to delete it because they couldn’t stand the thought that he’d make money by screwing people. RIGHTFULLY.)

It speaks terribly of his character to be such a repeat offender when it would be so incredibly easy not to be.
