It was pretty good. I didn’t love it, but i liked it. There was a good twist at the end. And it’s true that while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel it’s pretty effective. It kinda reminds me of Fragile from Jaume Balaguero in that way (though i prefer Fragile to this, i was a crying mess at the end of Fragile). Most of the issues i have with the film are technical: editing, sound (the dialogue sometimes is super low but the music and effects during scares are super loud, i also have that problem with some TV shows i love and it always bugs the living hell out of me).
I would like to see a sequel that could expand on the mythology and the characters from the first movie. Like, the family’s relationship after the events from the twist ending. Where Sam is in life after this, her relationship to her dad and the woman and the house too. I’ve got so many ideas and i hope the studio greenlights a sequel, whether the original director/writer is on board or not. I would love to see the potential of this story be fully explored.
