Jinn (another recent horror film) also made a great use of not only Detroit, but other nearby areas such as Ann Arbor.

I couldn’t agree more about Candyman being a completely different movie if it were set elsewhere. I thought It Follows made good use of the Detroit area. It’s also nice to see films that take place in cities that aren’t NYC, LA, or SF. Nothing against those cities. They’re just used a hell of a lot. For someone living in the middle of the country, other places like Chicago and Detroit make the horror feel a bit closer to home. Especially Henry!
