No way, we’re all about anecdotes around here.

My opinion is just an opinion too. It’s not like either of us worked on the film ourselves and really know what the hell we’re talking about, it’s just fun to talk about this shit.

Ah. A little behind-the-scenes (love those things) would’ve helped before I made the comment. I’ll have to check it out when it’s available on dvd. Thanks for the info. Love the blogs, by the way.

Seeing as Zoe Saldana (including two of her family members) helped produce the project, that theory seems unlikely. I would lean more toward she simply likes the movie, wanted to remake it (putting in her own money), and naturally cast her self as the lead.

Honestly, the movie was too flat with no subtext, nuances or really any layers at all to be given credit of having any sort of hidden meanings or social commentary on racism.

You are correct however that if you were to step outside, in any city in the world and throw a rock, you’re likely to hit a stupid, crazy or overzealous person.

But, if/when you actually see this movie you’ll probably change your mind, because there’s nothing here that amounts to anything. Other than simply observing that a character, previously played by a white actress, is now, in the remake, being played by a black actress, there’s no significance or controversy there.

I’d be surprised if even a crazy person found something racially offensive in this film based on that simple fact.
