I was just planning my trip back in 2012 when I wrote this: https://halloweenlove.com/universal-studios/ and just missed my chance!

Jaws at Universal Studios Hollywood, silly and not really worth seeing.

Jaws at Universal Studios Orlando, gone.

Jaws at Universal Studios Japan, well now, that just sounds difficult and expensive.

Indeed, thank goodness for our incessant need to digitally record everything instead of actually experiencing it because watching videos of these rides does brighten the spirit. :)

I was 3-years-old and there are two things I remember. 1.) Michael J. Fox waving to my family and 2.) Crying my eyes out because I was so damn terrified of Jaws. The mere thought of being in a boat with Jaws swimming below me was enough to ruin my day. Although I was young, I loved horror movies no matter how much they scared me but there was no way I was getting in that water. On that day, Universal Orlando had TONS of problems and Jaws wasn’t working when we got there. Because of the issues, my family was offered their money back OR a lifetime pass. Sadly, they took their money back… But when I went back years later, I absolutely LOVED Jaws. It was one of my favorite rides in all of Orlando and I was crushed to hear it was closing. No matter how fake that shark looked, the atmosphere in which Amity created for me was awesome. The music, the tour guide, the smells.. All good memories. Thanks for sharing this article and paying tribute to a legend. Great job!

Terrible idea, but I’m a stronger man because of it.

Many of the attractions were down so we were given free tickets to come back another time. Fortunately, toward the end of the day, they opened the Jaws ride briefly and ran a few guests through a test and I got to give it a go. I remember liking it but little else. Universal parks just aren’t up to snuff without Jaws, IMHO.

Have taken my wife and son to Universal Orlando 5 times and went on the Jaws ride at least twice each time. Our last visit was after they took it out but before Diagon Alley was opened, very sad area then. My favorite time was probably only my third or so and just before the boat goes into the boathouse our guide actually jumped onto the pier and abandoned us for the rest of the ride! That never happened any other time so I can’t help but wonder now why he did that.
