Haley just did his Rorschach but with a scratchier voice. He isn’t the main problem of the horrible remake, but he’s one in a long list of problems with the remake.

The mistake was always doing it as a remake as opposed to a new story (that ignored the events of 6 and 7, much as FvJ did). People who hated JEH “serious” Freddy a) don’t realize it is the director and writers that largely determine a film’s tone, and b) don’t remember what Freddy was like in the original film, or how the humor undermined the series in the end.

I couldn’t care what Freddy did to them, and the terrible CGI death scenes didn’t make me wanna watch them die either. So, why watch then?
