The less said about the Black X-Mas Remake the better! Halloween III, The Curse of Michael Myers 6,and Rob Zombie’s Halloween Remake are actually rooted in the 1979 Halloween Novel tie in with Original Carpenter Halloween Film! I’m a fan of the Black Christmas remake as well as the Halloween remake, however it is much easier to forgive any faults the Black Christmas remake has because the movie is just balls to the walls fun. I look at the Black Christmas remake like a new puppy that just shit on the floor. You know you should be mad, but how can you be? The Halloween remake was harder for fans to forgive because, even though I like it, it didn’t offer up any “fun”. It’s very serious and doesn’t do much to distract the audience from its drastic changes from the original. The Black Christmas remake is straight out of 1986. I love it. I watched an interview with the director where he basically dismisses the remake as a generic gorefest and says it “does nothing for him”. So lame.

This was one of my favorites of the modern remakes. I greatly appreciate all the ways they went out of their way to make it so over the top compared to the original. If they tried to replicate the original, it’s highly unlikely that it would have worked, in my opinion. I just don’t see it. I feel like they probably knew that, so they broke out the flesh cookies and just gave us balls to the wall fun. I wish more remakes would take this approach frankly.
