TCM is the best bet for Halloween on TV

TCM may not show slashers or more heavy R horror movies but they sure do have many great classic horror marathons such as 50s B-movies, Hitchcock, psychological thrillers, Hammer films, Universal horror, unedited, uncut, no commercial breaks

Watching alone is something you can do ANYTIME, on March 9th or June 26th. Nothing special. But knowing some other horror fans are at home watching Halloween III and singing the Silver Shamrock theme song at the same time makes that huge Halloween/horror community seem just a little more close knit. At least for October, anyway. And yes, adding in Twitter and hashtags can turn it into something more, as you said, like an event. I will be there, for the umpteenth airing of Halloween 5. Hope others are, too, and for many more years to come.
