Anyway, the whole hyperbolic internet meltdown about the busters being women this time around, besides being ridiculous, I honestly never even factored into the equation at all and just forgot about. It really isn’t even relevant. Like you said, the actors pulled their weight just fine, the effects were great, there were some fun moments and cameos, but overall, the story isn’t anything to write home about.

That said, it wasn’t horrible either. Overall, the movie is just fine. Although I’m not on team Automatically Hate All Remakes Even Before They Come Out and don’t make rookie mistakes like trying to compare Nicholson’s Joker with Ledger’s Joker and allow them to exist as their own thing, I have to say, I was disappointed that this project evolved from being a straight sequel into a remake.

I was absolutely fine with there being a new, younger busting crew, whether a female cast or male cast, it only makes sense. I just wanted it to be revisiting the same universe after all these years, that when we saw the inevitable cameos, it would have been the old retired crew and seeing what they were up to.
