Nice list. Though they certainly are Black Sheep, I like all of the films listed, save for one – Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. While I agree with J that it had some great kills, I felt completely robbed by the reveal. Man, was I pissed! The only reason I keep it in my collection is because I’m a completest. (That’s the same reason I have three versions of Rob Zombie’s Halloween and two versions of H2.)

One of my most favorite Black Sheep films is one you briefly touched on in the beginning of this article – Jason X. This film is considered to be at of near the bottom of the barrel by most Friday fans. I’m not ashamed to say that I really loved that movie. It’s actually one of my favorites in the series.

Though the “In Space” thing had already been done by Leprechaun and Hellraiser, it was something “different” in the Friday universe (see what I did there?). It was pure camp, covered with cheese, and came with a side order of silliness, but it was such a fun film IMO. One of the most reviled aspects of the film, the Android, was actually one of my favorite parts. Lisa Ryder as Kay-Em was great. She was bold, bad-ass, and completely fearless. A perfect foil for Jason, who instilled fear in all who crossed his path.

While I personally can't say for sure if I would turn down 80's era Tom Atkins (he has his own special brand of swagger), he's certainly not a conventionally good looking dude. But in Season of the Witch they really STRESS just what a ladie's man he is, an alcoholic, dead beat dad, ladie's man.

In reply to Zachary Paul. It cracks me up how Tom Atkins beds two complete strangers, in Season of the Witch, and The Fog. Although we didn't see him get busy with Jaime Lee Curtis in the Fog, he either just finished or was about to. And in Halloween III, he was old enough to be her father. Ew...XD.

In reply to Creepshow. Always the contrarian. :) Halloween is actually one of my favorite slasher franchises, but I really do love them all. I appreciate that the Halloween films were so simple...until they weren't anyway.

Halloween III is my favorite based solely on the fact that there is no Michael Myers. Of all slasher films, I find the Halloweens to be the most boring and difficult to sit through.

Hi Zach! great article! i have to admit i very much like like F13 pt.5. it’s the last F13 film to have any good atmosphere/creepiness and some of the kills were freaking brutal (the leather strap around the eyes/the gardening shears to the eyes).
