A friend of mine just watched Tales From The Darkside: The Movie, which is currently avaliable on Netflix, for the first time last night due to my recommendation. If I had to rate the stories starting with my favorite they are as follows: Mummy, Cat, Gargoyle.

I dunno…I think marrying (and banging) a gargoyle is pretty cool as long as it has the power to morph into an attractive human female. Maybe there’s still hope for that marriage and he could beg it to change back into human lady form. Think of how awesome it would be to have a gargoyle who could, in theory, morph into any human female at any time!

That is SUCH an important element of anthologies that is too often half-assed. Individual stories work best when they’re bookended by a storyline that gives them a purpose for existing.

Haha yea, that was a grim ending. Between the kids turning into gargoyles and the kid almost being cooked in the wraparound, the movie is pretty cruel to children!

My own rankings would flop your #1 and #2, because as much as I love the cat segment, the gargoyle thing was just incredible on every front. (Also, and SPOILER ALERT FIRST — I loved having the kids turn out to be gargs, too. So depressing!)
