I enjoyed Ravager. I liked that the ending was left open for interpretation considering how wide open the whole franchise has been. It made sense to me, and I love Rocky so much. I might be biased. :)

Having just watch all of them in order, my “favorite” list goes like this: (from most to least).
1. Phantasm (favorite – sets the tone nicely)
2. Phantasm IV: Oblivion (dreamy like the 1st, but a bit more sci fi implemented within the tale, with some explanations)
3. Phantasm II (great one, but too bad they replaced A. Michael Baldwin)
4. Phantasm V: Ravager (good flick, but not the best ending – – was left too open to interpretation, IMO).
5. Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (is the weakest, as far as I’m concerned).

Just watched Ravager last night, and I was really into it … until the ending, that is. Has me over-interpreting the end.
However, I notice that as time goes on, I keep remembering little things said throughout the entire series, and my interpretation keeps dawning on me , clearer & clearer. I’m taking it that the end of Reggie’s one reality here on Earth is the birth of another reality – him and his friends in The Tall Man’s world.

Yes I hope the fans pony up the cash for this one. It cost me 6 bucks for the On Demand, and I will be buying the Blu Ray. I hope you enjoy the movie.

Will look for your new Phantasm post. : )

Oh, okay good. :) as low budget as the film was I hope all the fans support and put there dollars down for it. I didn’t know it was already on demand. Awesome! I’ll be checking it out tonight!

Also check the site in about an hour. I’ve got a new Phantasm post going up in a bit. Cheers.

Just watched RaVager. Good stuff, no real complaints. The FX aren’t even as bad as I had heard. Maybe we’ll “talk” more after you’ve seen it.

Lol at “titty sentinels”. Yes, it’s not as fun as the others. Oblivion is a far more somber film. I think my enjoyment may have actually been colored by marathoning through all the others. By the time I got to Part 4, it was a nice change of pace.

Yes, I really wanted to see Oblivion on the big screen. Last I checked, it wasn’t playing around here. It should be on VOD by the 7th as well, so I’ll be checking it out ASAP.

I actually set up to host a TUGG screening of Phantasm: Remastered here on Halloween night. We’ll see if I can sell enough tickets to make it happen.

Honestly, no, I hadn’t watched it in years. In my mind, I remembered it being a bit boring and kind of a slog. In order to have a fresh perspective, I just watched it again.

That opinion hasn’t entirely changed, but it is definitely better than I was giving it credit for. There were several things I really liked about it. I loved the mix of old and new footage. The Tall Man as a Civil War field surgeon was interesting, me being a big Civil War buff and all. Mike MacGyver-ing (that may be dating myself a bit) his own sentinel was pretty great. The titty-sentinels were both cool and disturbing at the same time. Reggie being Reggie, in his hippy/Peter Fonda-esque way, is always something to behold.

All that being said, I would probably still have to keep it at number four. Not that I by any means think it was a bad film, because it definitely was good. It’s just, for me, it was the least “fun” film in the series, if that makes any sense.

As a side note, I am pretty bummed. I just found out RaVager is not going to be playing in my area. That really sucks, as I was really looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. Looks like it’ll have to be the Blu Ray for me.

Probably in the most predictable way possible:1,2,3,4. To be honest I haven’t seen either of the films in sometime, but your article makes me want to rectify that. Again, thanks for the write up, I enjoyed it.

Very interesting. My preferences, however, are completely different from yours. My ranking is –
1. II
2. III
3. Phantasm
4. IV

I’ll say I’m cautiously optimistic about Ravager. Fingers crossed anyway. Mind if I ask how you might rank them so far?

Here’s hoping RAVAGER doesn’t embarrass Angus Scrimm in his last hurrah.
