Honest to God, I watch Friday the 13th Part 3 at least once every couple months, and never picked up on the rest of that news report. That’s what I love about these movies – You notice something new no matter how many times you watch them (and I’m sure I’m well into the triple digits of number of views by now). Interesting. I know that Dana Kimmell wasn’t too keen on the suggested rape storyline either, and most of the concrete evidence supporting the theory was edited out because of her. It’s interesting to theorize where they intended on taking the story, and of course in the first couple films, they were still finding their footing and fleshing out the mythology. But I’m glad they kept it ambiguous and didn’t really force it on the audience. I like my Jason as a simple slasher and had they gone that dark route, it would’ve taken out some of the lighthearted fun that I love this franchise so much for!
