To celebrate the journey toward Halloween 2014 I’m going to do something I’ve wanted to attempt since I first started writing here on Halloween Love … put together a definitive list of my personal favorite horror movie moments and scenes.
I hope you will agree with some, maybe raise an eyebrow at others and fingers crossed a few will be pleasant surprises.
49 : The Descent 2005 : The Original Ending.
The original and intended ending to Neil Marshall’s stunning 2005 masterpiece is the dark and sombre climax this movie deserved. A ‘happy ending’ (If you could call it that), just didn’t fit and didn’t feel right. This was literally a descent for every character involved … A downward spiral into terror, anger, betrayal and revenge, that could only have one possible outcome.
The Descent is easily one of my favorite horror movies of the last 10 years and it just gets better every time I watch it. The direction, acting, score, lighting … all come together to create something quite special.
