It’s hard to imagine now, but there was once a time in my youth when I only knew Robert Englund as an actor because of his role as Willie, the gentle, friendly Alien from the epic 1980s Sci-Fi show V.
But it was a contrast that just proved to me (even as a kid), what a versatile, clever and skilled actor he was and still is. Freddy Krueger would not be the icon and legendary character he has become without the ability of this man under all the prosthetics and glue.
He is horror Royalty and I miss the days when I knew a Nightmare on Elm Street movie with his presence would be on the horizon sooner or later.
